Any company can have a plain ol’ History page.
But Honda gave us a clear creative mandate regarding all aspects of their site redesign — they are not one to dwell on the past, as storied as their own might be.
No. Honda is all about the future. So how could we share all of their amazing achievements over the decades while staying true to this key ethos of their leadership, all while demonstrating how they got to where they are and where they’re headed?
Our answer: a Time Machine. Instead of a humdrum timeline starting at the company’s inception, our experience begins in the future. 2088, to be exact (not an arbitrary date in Honda world).
In the dynamic scroll, each moment selected gets its own beautiful chance to shine — and is designed in such a way as to make additions to the timeline as seamless as the image transitions (we found a great many monumental moments to showcase, so this page has even more potential to grow over time).
Here’s a sampling of compelling moments pulled from the experience, going back only to 2014 (click any image to launch the Honda Time Machine):
For every highlighted moment, the message and the format both support the overall theme — which is that 1) Honda is busy right now dreaming up our future, and 2) even as you travel backward in time within this experience, you’ll see that that’s exactly what they’ve always being doing, all along the way.
From their environmental record to their tremendous victories in vehicle safety, their stated dedication to being a future-forward company is not mere talk. They have always walked the walk.
